Gloria M. Pollack (nee Del Rio), age 66, died on July 13, 2009, at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ.
Gloria is survived by her husband, advocate and life partner Mark, loving children Eileen and Mark and daughter-in-law Rita, all of whom she was very proud, and devoted brother Jose Luis. She was loving daughter of the late Gloria and Dr. Jose Luis Del Rio. Her grandchildren Cameron and Fiona made her laugh and gave her great joy. She also leaves behind many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Gloria and her family built a wonderful life in the United States for the past 49 years. She worked as a court interpreter for more than a decade, and was very proud of her work in the Commission of Justice and Peace in the Archdiocese of Newark.
Gloria loved to "celebrate life" with her family and friends. She loved her religion and Mother Angelica, traveling to Italy, shopping, and spending time in her home. She will be remembered for her courage, tenacity, dedication to God and family, and never-give-up spirit. She and her family will be eternally grateful to her doctors and caregivers who shared her journey with cancer over the past 17 years.
Family and friends are invited to visit Wednesday from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ. Her funeral Mass will take place at Holy Trinity Church in Hackensack on Thursday at 10am. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
