Obituary

WORCESTER-Persefony (Venetis) Capsalis, 89 of 31 Blossom Street died Thursday, January 10th in UMass-Memorial Healthcare, Memorial Campus. Her husband Vassilios Capsalis died in 1982. She leaves her son Peter Capsalis, 2 daughters Harriet Dionis and Bessie Capsalis all of Worcester, 3 brothers Panatelis Venetis of Worcester, Theofanis Venetis of Greece, and Elias Venetis of Athens, Greece, a sister Anthoula Zahos of Larisa, Greece, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, many nephews and nieces here and in Greece.

She was born in Northern Epirus, Greece the daughter of George and Katina (Kitsakis) Venetis, she emigrated to Milford in 1934, and later moved to Worcester. Mrs. Capsalis had at one time worked for Table Talk Pies, and later as dining room supervisor at Westboro State Hospital for 20 years, she retired in 1974. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, it’s Senior Citizens, the Ladies Philoptochos Society and was a long time worker and volunteer for the biannual Grecian Festival. Mrs. Capsalis was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking.

The funeral will be Saturday, January 12th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, January 11th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM.
