Thomas “Tom” J. Cribben, 78, of Whitman, died Sunday, July 12th at the Colony House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Abington, after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Laura (Benoit) Cribben. Tom was born and brought up in Brockton, son of the late James and Mary (Fenton) Cribben. He was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1948.
He served in the United States Navy, during the Korean War from 1951-1955.
Tom worked as a postal worker at the Whitman Post Office for 30 years before retiring in 1997, after retiring from the post office he worked at Trucchi ’s in Abington for 2 years.
He sang in the choir for the Ireland’s Own Association and sang at many local weddings.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by, his son Thomas J. Cribben, Jr., and his wife Bonnie of Plymouth, his daughter Kathleen Cribben of Whitman; grandfather of Alyssa Cribben Joachim Ogundipe and Joshua Cribben.He was also the bother of the late James and Fred Cribben, Virginia Lunney, Rita Piliceri and George Francis Cribben.
His services will be held on Thursday July 16th at 7:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Internment will be private at MA. V.A. National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
