Obituary

John W. Clark, 86 of New Bedford died July 12, 2009 at home after a period of declining health.
He was the husband of Sarah D. (Hunt) Clark with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Alexander and Clara (Griffith) Clark, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Clark was a member of the Union Baptist Church.
He was formerly employed as foreman of maintenance and machine shop at Aerovox for many years until retirement.
Mr. Clark served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He played semi-pro football with the Murphy Club and was known as Flash.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William Clark of Fall River; a daughter, Marilyn Wilson of Ashland, MA; a daughter-in-law, Judith Oliver Clark; a son-in-law, Kelvin Wilson; 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Hugh Stanley Clark, Ulric "Rick" Clark, Phyllis Wills, Beryl "Pal" Clark, Barbara Clark and George Clark.

His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 16th at 11 AM in the Union Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday, July 15th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
