Obituary

Carlis Coleman, 81, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Elder Paul Thomas and Rev. Tracy Clements officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 Monday evening.

Mr. Coleman was born October 14, 1927, in Dodge County, Georgia, to the late William Hiram and Maggie Braswell Coleman. He had lived in the community most of his life. He worked with the City of Fitzgerald Public Works for 19 years and for 30 years, he was a meat cutter for Harvey’s Supermarket. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Coleman is survived by his son: Roger (Jane) Coleman of Fitzgerald; daughter: Brenda Coleman Merritt of Macon; sons: Ronald (Denise) Coleman and Kenneth (Susanna) Coleman, both of Fitzgerald; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and a sister: Rufus Coleman of Eastman, Lillian (Virgil) Pope of Macon, and Ernest (Faye) Coleman of Milledgeville. He was preceded in death by his wife: Wilda Bundrick Coleman; a son-in-law: Ralph Merritt; a great-granddaughter: Haley Marie Fletcher as well as three brothers and one sister.
