Obituary

Robert J. Rasmussen, 79 of Medway died July 11 in the Metro West Medical Center in Natick. He was the husband of Anne M. (Halloran) Rasmussen.
Born in Newton, November 15, 1929, the son of the late Peter and Lena (Landry) Rasmussen, Mr. Rasmussen was raised in Newton and had lived in Medway for the past 52 years.
Mr. Rasmussen was a 1947 graduate of Newton High School.
He had worked for the Boston Edison Company for 46 years before his retirement in retail sales.
Mr. Rasmussen served in the Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of Private First Class. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with one bronze service star and the UN Service Medal.
Mr. Rasmussen was a member of the Medway VFW. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards.
The most pleasure he took above all was playing with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, MaryAnn Boyan and her husband, James of Medway, Cathy Kapfhamer and her husband, David of Geneva Illinois, Timothy M. Rasmussen and his wife, Marie of Medway, Robert F. Rasmussen and his wife, Lisa of Stratham New Hampshire and Jeannine M. Salcedo and her husband, Alex of Westwood.
He was the brother of the late Claire Gilfoy.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, July 16 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St., Medway at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
