Margaret E. (Gustafson) Grund, 88, of Norton passed away on Saturday July 11, 2009 in the presence of her loving family at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred G. Grund who died on July 11, 1979.
Born in Attleboro, MA on November 20, 1920 she was a dear daughter of the late Arthur and Evelyn (Johnson) Gustafson.
She grew up on her family’s farm on Pike Ave. in Attleboro, was educated in Attleboro public schools and was a 1938 graduate of Attleboro High School. She later moved to Norton where she has made her home for the past 56 years. Her home in Norton was originally used as the town’s first post office.
Mrs. Grund was a retired Nurse’s Aide having worked at the Daggett-Crandall Newcomb Home in Norton for 12 years prior to retiring , and had previously been employed at the House in the Pines in Norton, and at the former Spencer Thermostat Co. in Attleboro.
A member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Norton, she had served on various church committees and was also a member of the Norton Historical Society and the Order of the Eastern Star in Attleboro.
Mrs. Grund was a loving caregiver to her family and in her spare time enjoyed bird watching, trips to Cuttyhunk and most all the wonderful times spent with family and friends.
She is survived by her devoted children Terry B. Grund of Norton, Kristen E. Gomes and her husband Alfred of Norton, Gayle C. Rounds and her husband Reese of Norton and the late Jeffrey W. Grund. She was the sister of the Carl Gustafson and is also survived by her adoring grandchildren Lillah Grund-Grinnell, Melissa Gomes, Jason Rounds, Justin Rounds, Adam Rounds and Christopher Gomes and her cherished great grandchildren Meredith, Phoebe, Mia, Ryan and Tyler.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Norton. Burial will be private.
