Obituary

James Lewis `Louie` Perry, 67, Clarksville, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus after a short illness, Thursday, July 9, 2009, at St. Thomas Hospital. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hilldale Church of Christ with Bro. Steve Kirby, Bro. Roy Goodmiller, Bro. Paul Askew, and Bro. Daniel Askew officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at at the church. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and a comforter to many sad, lonely, needy, fellow Christians, or shut-ins in nursing homes or at home alone. He loved the Lord, the Church, and the Christian family at Hilldale Church of Christ. The Lord was first in his life. He lived a life of serving others and was a genuine friend to all who knew him. He will forever live in our hearts. He was a long time successful self made businessman in Clarksville at: Clarksville Auto Parts, New Providence Auto Parts, Perry's Auto Parts, Queen City Truck Parts, Perkins and Miller Appliances, and Pedigo's Hardware. He also owned Perry's Rentals and Real Estate Properties. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Odd Fellows. He attended Clarksville High School. He loved his farm, collecting and working on antique clocks. He was an avid Vols fan. He especially loved sharing the love of the Lord with everyone he knew and helping children at his church. He had many children anxiously waiting for Pinewood Derby Races which he faithfully enjoyed sponsoring.. He sponsored hayrides every year for the teens. He has touched many with his giving heart and kindness. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his dear loving wife and his family as a wonderful husband and father. He was born May 5, 1942 in Montgomery County, son of the late John and Savannah Perry. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Howard, Hartwell, Luther, Ed, Carl, Roger, Herbert, and Tom Perry. Survivors include his devoted and devastated wife, Sue Askew Perry; four daughters, Jennifer J. Perry, Clarksville; Pattie Hancock (Matt), Clarksville; Joy Mai (David), Woodlawn; and Debbie Schmittou (Johnny), Plano, TX; two brothers, Tip Perry (Carol) and Butch Perry (Faye) both of Clarksville; one sister,Rosa Lee Haskins, Clarksville; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Schmittou, Jordan Schmittou, Micheal Mai, Heather Welch, Jaima Carneyhan, Matt Hancock, Jr, Simon Hancock, and Abbey Justice and one great-grandson, Lucas Welch. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Schmittou, Jordan Schmittou, Micheal Mai, Matt Hancock, Jr, Simon Hancock, and Scott Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Vince Davidson, J.D. Burkhart, Mike Lee, Mickey Bryant, James Miller, Bill Young, Robert Yates, Hubert Griffey, and Dan Nolan. Contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to Hilldale Church of Christ Christian School, 501 Hwy 76, Clarksville, TN or to Good News from Gospel Broadcasting Network, P.O.
