Mario “Duke” Moretti, Jr., 65, a lifetime resident of East Bridgewater, died July 8th of injuries due to a motorcycle accident. He was the son of Mario Moretti, Sr, of East Bridgewater and the late Julia (Pedro) Moretti. He was the devoted loving husband of Judith R. (Brousseau) Moretti and the caring, supportive father of Richard J. of East Bridgewater, Christopher M. and his wife Valarie of South Easton and Dean A. and his wife Colleen of Raynham. He was a beloved “Pa” to his first granddaughter Danica Jane Moretti. He was educated in East Bridgewater Schools. ”Duke” retired in 2000 after 32 years of service as a police officer and the first motorcycle patrolman of East Bridgewater Police Department. He was a lifetime member of the East Bridgewater commercial Club, an active member of The Forty-Niners in Bridgewater and The Wheels of Time car club of Brockton. “Duke” was an avid outdoors man, enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He also was the brother of, Sandra Arena and her husband James of Hanson, Judyann Moretti Kasparian of East Bridgewater. He leaves an extended family of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
His services will be held on Wednesday July 15th at 11:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, burial will follow in the Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater, MA. Visitation will be on Tuesday July 14th from 2:00PM-8:00PM. Donations may be made in his name to the Special Olympics of Massachusetts , 450 Maple St.-Bldg. One, Danvers, MA 01923.
