TOWNSEND: Arlene M. (Boyer) Brooks, age 56, a Townsend resident for the past 31 years, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at the Apple Valley Center in Ayer, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Chelsea on July 15, 1952, she was the daughter of Frank J. Boyer, Jr., who survives her, of Tewksbury and the late Rose Marie (Lenzi) Boyer.
Arlene was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1970. Following graduation, she attended the former Lowell State College, where she received her B.A. Degree and became certified as a public school teacher in 1974.
Prior to her illness, she was employed for several years as an embroiderer by the J.C.A. Company of Townsend.
Arlene enjoyed many activities including dancing, camping, needle point , and numerous craft projects.
Before moving to Townsend, she was a communicant of St. William's Parish of Tewksbury.
During her early years, she was a member of the Tewksbury 4-H Club.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her three daughters, Jennifer L. Cloutier and her husband Marc of Townsend, Krista M. Brooks-Greco and her husband Chris of Burlington, VT and Sheryl L. Brooks of Lowell; one granddaughter, Hannah Rose Arruda of Townsend; two brothers, Richard Boyer and his wife Colleen of Merrimack, NH and James Boyer and his wife Tina of Leominster; two sisters, Joyce Sabato and her husband Dr. Joseph Sabato of St. Augustine, FL and Linda Amico and her husband Robert of Nashua, NH; also many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours Friday, July 10th, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Saturday, July 11th, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
