Obituary

Bradley F. Gomes, 72, of New Bedford died Tuesday July 7, 2009 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility after a long illness. He was the husband of Janice M. (Ramos) Gomes.

Born in Acushnet, the son of the late Alfred Gomes and Marie A. (Freeman) Gomes-Johnson, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

Mr. Gomes was formerly employed as a cook at Ocean Spray Cranberry Company.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a founding member of the Y.A. Club.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bradley F. Gomes, Jr. and Mark Gomes, both of New Bedford; his siblings, Stuart Gomes, Janice Gomes, Virginia Marcelino, Alfred "Rocky" Gomes, William Watkins, Nancy Costa, Geraldine Livramento, Kathleen Tench, Wayne Gomes, Karleen Johnson, Alicia Johnson-Bundy, Craig Johnson, Otis Johnson Jr., and Terrence Johnson; two grandsons, Bradley S. Gomes and Jackson A. Gomes; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Trino W. Gomes and brother of the late Sandra Gomes.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
