Worcester: Rita C (Turcotte) Bachand 78 of 7 Julien Avenue, a longtime resident of the city died Saturday July 26 in her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mrs. Bachand was born in Nashua New Hampshire a daughter of J. Calixte and Yvonne E (Hamel) Turcotte and moved to Worcester in 1940. She was married to the late Armand A Bachand, celebrating 49 years of marriage prior to his death in 1995. She is survived by two sons, Normand L Bachand of Keeseville New York and Paul V Bachand of Braintree Mass. Two daughters Lorraine P and Lucille C Bachand both of Worcester. Two brothers J.E. Paul Turcotte of Worcester and Roger Turcotte of Palm Harbor Florida, and a sister Pauline J Messier of Rutland Mass. Two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bachand was a fifty year member of Saint Joseph's Parish and was active in the effort to re-open Saint Joseph's Church along with her husband and fellow parishoners, several years ago. She also enjoyed traveling, music, cooking and many forms of arts and crafts.
The funeral will be held Tuesday July 29th from The Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home 298 Grafton Street with a Mass at 9:30am in Saint Joseph's Church 35 Hamilton Street.
