Grace D. Mulcahy, 84, passed away at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on July 7th, 2009. She was born in Brockton on November 28th, 1924 to her parents Walter and Agnes (Gerry) Nealon. Grace was raised and educated in Malden and is a graduate of Girls Catholic High School. She spent most of her adult life raising her family in Medford. For over 20 years, she was a dedicated volunteer staff member of the Minuteman Council Boy Scout Troops. She ranged from being a den mother to being honored with the Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor an adult can achieve. She was also awarded the St. George Medal for teaching catholic values to scouts. When her own children were attending school, Grace was a member of the Parent Teachers Association in Medford . She also volunteered her time helping various CYO groups in Malden and Medford. For many years, Grace worked as a clerk at Sunnyhurst Farms in Haines Square in Medford. She is survived by her children, Frank T. Mulcahy Jr. and his wife Laura of Virginia Beach, VA, William M. Mulcahy and his wife Katherine of Medford, David W. Mulcahy and his wife Eleanor of Monmouth, ME, Robert Mulcahy of Medford and Paul G. Mulcahy and his wife Michelle of Virginia Beach, VA; by her grandchildren, Leland, Erin, Thomas, Elizabeth, Katie, Meredith, Chase, Ian and Quinn; by her great grandchildren Jake and Keagan; and by her siblings, William Nealon of Colorado, Mary Lawless of New York, Sarah Plummer of Maine and George Nealon of Everett. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Grace was predeceased by her husband Frank T. Mulcahy and by her brother Walter Nealon. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Saturday July 11th at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday July 10th from 4-8 PM.
