Normand Brissette, 87, of Clinton St., formerly of Bernon St., died Tuesday at Fatima Hospital in North Providence. He was the husband of 62 years of Therese (Morell) Brissette to whom he was married on Sept. 7, 1946.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Adelard and Maria (Provencher) Brissette. He was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Brissette served in the Army during WWII in the European Theater. He was in the Rhineland and Central European campaigns, and received the Victory Medal, European-African-Middle-Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, and American Theater Campaign Ribbon.
Mr. Brissette worked for Draper Corp. in Hopedale for 22 years and then and worked for the City of Woonsocket Highway Dept. for over 20 years before retiring in 1986.
He was a member of the BPOE Lodge 850 in Woonsocket, the Cercle Laurier, St. Agatha Seniors, Royal Travelers, and Mt. Vernon Forever Young Club. Normand loved being involved in activities with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Paul L. Brissette, and his wife Doreen, of Woonsocket, three grandchildren, Charlene Mowry, and her husband Chad, Marc Brissette, and Adam Gagne, and two great-granddaughters. He was the brother of the late Leo G. Brissette.
His funeral will be Saturday at 9:00 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Agatha’s Church, Joffre Ave., Woonsocket.
