Obituary

DRACUT - Girard E. "Jerry" Sevigny, 80, a longtime resident of Dracut, died unexpectedly Monday, July 6th at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Eileen P. (O'Neil) Sevigny, to whom he was married for 61 years.

He was born in Lawrence on July 24, 1928, and he was a son of the late Louis and Alice (Richer) Sevigny.

Mr. Sevigny served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during and after World War II.

Prior to his retirement in 1979, he was employed for twenty years as a Sergeant for the Dracut Police Department.

He was an active communicant of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Dracut, where he served as an Usher and Altar Server. He was also a member of the Dracut Police Association and the Dracut American Legion Leo C. Roth Post 315.

He was an avid New England sports fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Girard E. Sevigny, Jr. and his wife Sharyn of Nashua, NH, Ronald J. Sevigny and his wife Deborah of Nashua, NH, and Wayne M. Sevigny and his wife Gail of Tyngsboro; a daughter Kathleen A. Beattie and her husband Graham of Danville, NH; ten grandchildren, Kelly Beattie and her husband William Hand, Stephen Sevigny, Beth (Beattie) Parsons and her husband Daniel, Cara Sevigny, Aimee Sevigny, Leah Sevigny, Caitlin Sevigny, Keith Sevigny, Corey Sevigny, and Kayla Sevigny, a great granddaughter Ailie Maeve Parsons; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Charles Sevigny, Yvonne Moreau, and Germaine Leo.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Friday from 4 until 8 PM. His Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday at 8 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Dracut. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the St. Mary Magdalen Parish Building Fund, PO Box 100, Tyngsboro, MA 01879.
