John Henry Dekle, 59, of Chula died Monday, July 6, 2009, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2009, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Fred Evers will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8 2009, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Dekle was born on October 13, 1949 in Tift County and was the son of John T. Dekle of Scooterville and the late Bessie Mae Tomberlin Dekle. He was raised in Worth County and had lived in Tift County for 38 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his father, Mr. Dekle is survived by his wife, Gail R. Ikerd Dekle of Chula; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Alex and Katie Dekle of Tifton and Andy Dekle of Chula; one daughter and son-in-law, Amyie D. Mathis and her husband, Chad, of Tifton; one sister, Mary D. Crownover of Greenville, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Avery Mathis, Chandler Mathis and Alivia Mathis; and his mother-in-law, Wilma Ikerd of Tifton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tift Regional Medical Center Foundation or Hospice of Tiftarea.
