Obituary

Sr. Miriam Therese Rubeo, CDP, Sister of Divine Providence for 63 years, of Kingston, died July 5. She was 83. Born on Aug. 12, 1925 in Jeannette, PA, she was the youngest of 18 children of Peter and Josephine (Mercurio) Rubeo. She is survived by her sister Josephine Lapina of FL and her brother Martin Rubeo of PA, several nieces and nephews, and her sisters in the community.
Sr. Miriam Therese spent 3 years in the Pittsburgh area, then she came to MA in 1952. She developed her cooking talents in ministry at two minor seminaries, in various schools, at Camp Mishannock, and for the sisters in several local convents.Remaining in the newly formed Kingston Province in 1957, Sr. Miriam Therese expanded her skills, serving tasty meals and treats especially her “cream horns”. She spent her last 20 years in food service at Providence House in Kingston and for a few of those years, she worked with a local bakery, beautifully decorating special occasion cakes. After retiring, Sr. Miriam Therese volunteered her services with special needs children at Cardinal Cushing School in Hanover, MA. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans and baby blankets.
Visiting hours on Wed. July 8 at the Providence House, 363 Bishop’s Highway, Kingston from 2-5 and 6-7:30, with a Prayer Service at 7:30PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thurs. July 9 at the Providence House at 10:00AM. Interment in Our Lady of Divine Providence Cemetery, Kingston. Memorial donations may be made to the Lourdes Center, 363 Bishop’s Highway, Kingston, MA 02364.
