Obituary

BECHIS, ZENON KRISPIN, of Weymouth, July 5, 2009 at the South Shore Hospital. He is lovingly survived by his 2 sons, Kenneth & his wife Donna of Concord, MA & Hawaii & their children Seth & Bret Bechis of CA & Dennis & his wife Maria & their children Christopher, Margarite & Dennison Bechis of Brookline, NH. Zenon was the beloved husband of the late Helen Aldega Usevich Bechis. He is the devoted son of the late Apolonia & Paul Bechis. He was the cherished brother of the late Olga “Jean” Bechis. He was a WWII US Army veteran and served his country in England as a reconnaissance photo analyst, preparing bombing runs into Germany for pilots in his squadron including the famous actor James Stewart. He worked as a model maker in the U.S. Air Force Phillips Research Laboratory Fabrication Branch at Hanscom Air Force Base in Lexington, MA, providing prototype devices & models for experiments conducted by the Laboratory’s scientists. He worked there for 55 years until 2001 when a heart attack forced him to retire at the age of 84. At this point in his career, he was the oldest civilian working member of the U.S. Air Force. Zenon Bechis was awarded the prestigious U.S. Air Force Pioneer Award. Viewing and service will be held at the Casper Funeral Home (617.269.1930), 187 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 from 4 to 7 pm. Interment services are private.
