
Halifax – Rita M. (Braun) Dolan 87 of Halifax, formerly of Whitman, Randolph, Dunstable and Quincy died Sunday July 5 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Vincent F. Dolan.
Born and raised in Quincy she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Caroline (Schell) Braun and a graduate of the Woodward School for Girls and Quincy High School Class of 1940.
She was a member of the first Senior Girl Scouts program in Quincy and remained a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts of America Association. She was an active participant in the many social programs at the Senior Centers of both Whitman and Halifax.
She was a past President of the William R. Caddy Marine Corps League Auxiliary.
Rita’s hobbies included knitting, crocheting, and various arts and crafts, but her greatest joy came from time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving children Donna Dibbern and her husband Gerald of Halifax, Dorothy Faust and her husband Gordon of Spencer, Diane Soper of Hanson, and Michael Dolan of Merrimack, NH. She is also survived by six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and cousins.
Her services will be held Thursday July 9 at 10:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 11 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Avon. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday July 8 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.
