Rufus Estes Bohler, Jr., (Rudy), husband of Susan Bell Bohler, entered into rest on July 2, 2009. The visitation will be Monday, July 6, at Platt's Funeral Home on Crawford Avenue, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The graveside service will be on Tuesday, July 7 at 11:00 AM, at Westover Memorial Park with the Very Reverend Robert Fain and Dr. Timothy Owings officiating.
Survivors include his wife and three children: Kelly Bohler Stevenson, Davis McCall Bohler, and Susan Kathryn Bohler; three grandchildren: Joseph Louis Stevenson, Mildred McCall Stevenson, and Fisher Davis Stevenson. He is also survived by his two sisters, Linda Bohler Rader and Cyndy Bohler Brown (Jerome) and one brother, Robert Michael Bohler, all of Augusta.
Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Estes Bohler, Sr., Rudy was born on May 10, 1949 in Washington, Georgia. He lived most of his life in Augusta. He graduated from the Academy of Richmond County in 1967, and attended Georgia Tech, graduating from Southern Tech in 1971.
Rudy was the president of Bell Investment Company as a commercial real estate broker. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Augusta Kiwanis Club, the Augusta Country Club, GREC, and NAR.
Rudy was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed dancing, good scotch, cigars, and The Wall Street Journal.
Pallbearers will be: Bob Bohler, Bo Bovard, Barney Dunstan, Buddy Fitzgerald, Bill Hock, Scott Loehr, Stan Mohney, Will Long, Richard Patterson, and Mike Shelton. Honorary pallbearers will be the BBQ Bunch: Billy Badger, Bo Bovard, John Gibson, Tenant Houston, Tom Robertson, Sam Tyson, and Ridge Whitehurst; and members of the Augusta Kiwanis Club.
