Alfraina (Gomes) Pestana, wife of the late Anthony Pestana, died at the Life Care Center of Raynham on July 5, 2009.
She was 93.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Olivia (Mendes) Gomes.
Educated in Taunton schools, she was a 1934 graduate of Taunton High School.
Mrs. Pestana worked as a quality control inspector for 15 years for the Raytheon Companies in Dighton and Waltham, retiring at the age of 59.
A communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church, she was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Holy Rosary Society, the Weir Seniors, and AARP, and enjoyed oil painting and ceramics.
Mrs. Pestana leaves a son, Thomas A. Pestana and his wife Jeanne of Taunton; a granddaughter, Jill Elliott of AZ, 2 great-grandchildren, Gunnar and Diana Elliott, both of AZ; 2 nephews; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was also the mother of the late Albert A. Pestana, and the sister of the late Anibel Gomes.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Wednesday, July 8th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 7th from 4 to 7 p.m.
