DARTMOUTH — Virginia Alma Rosinha, 88, of Dartmouth, passed away on July 2, 2009.
Born in Dartmouth, on February 6, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Carleton Nelson and Susan Hathaway (Thorpe) Merry. She lived in Dartmouth all her life and was a member of the Dartmouth High School Class of 1939.
Mrs. Rosinha was a Dartmouth Town Assessor for 30 years. She then went to work at Prescott, Bullard and McLeod of New Bedford until her retirement.
She was the widow of Gilbert Costa Rosinha and the loving mother of Gilbert Ronald Rosinha, who predeceased her in 2001. Also a brother, Galen Merry, who predeceased her.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Joyce (King) Rosinha; three grandchildren, Eli and Eric Rosinha and Elizabeth Hamir and her husband, Akraad Hamir of Dartmouth; a sister, Rosamond Bennett of Dartmouth; and a niece, Susan (Bennett) Lee of Harvard, MA.

Visitation will be Monday, July 6, 2009, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Wilson Chapel, 479 County Street, New Bedford, MA. Burial will be private
