Obituary

COFFMAN - James C. Coffman, 68, passed away Saturday morning, July 4, 2009 at his Fernandina Beach, FL residence. Mr. Coffman was born June 10, 1941 in Pennington Gap, VA and moved to the Fernandina Beach a year ago from Palatka, FL. He was a retired deputy sheriff serving 29 years with the Orange County, FL Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Coffman was also a veteran of the U. S. Army. During his tour of duty with the Army he served on the Presidential Detail during the administrations of Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Helen Otradovec Coffman of Fernandina Beach, FL; two daughters, Kim Ferman (Jerry), also of Fernandina Beach and Tammie Coffman (Bob Decker) of Orlando, FL; a brother and sister in law, Bob and Debby Coffman of Churchill, TN; and one grandson, Shayne Cheshire. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with interment to follow in Green Pine Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4114 Sunbeam Rd. Bldg. 100, Suite 101, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
