Lillian m. (Hammond) Dorney , 86, of Norwell formerly of Brockton, died Wednesday July 1st in the Norwell Knoll Rehabilitation & Nursing Facility, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Edward Dorney. She was born in East Bridgewater, a daughter of the late William and Georgianna (Bates) Hammond. Lillian was brought up in Brockton and attended Brockton Schools. She was a Brockton resident most of her life, and worked as a stitcher for a garment factory in her earlier years. Lillian’s husband Edward was in the Air Force and she traveled around with him, while he was in the service.
She enjoyed sewing and dancing.
She is survived by her niece, Joan Hammond of Kingston, her nephew Robert Hammond of Whitman; many great nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Lawrence, William, Forrest, Evelyn and Marion Hammond and Arlene Piva.
Her services will be held on Tuesday July 7th at 11:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Interment will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 -11:00AM.
