Rex Duckworth, 73, of Rebecca died Friday, July 3, 2009, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009, at Ocilla Church of God. Rev. Clayton Dowd will officiate with burial to follow in Poulan Cemetery. Rocky Duckworth, Dave Gibbs, Tad Duckworth, Ronnie Duckworth, Tracy Suggs and Reid Duckworth will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, 2009, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The body will be placed in the church at 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Duckworth was born on March 23, 1936 in Worth County and was the son of Jake Duckworth and Wilma Suggs Duckworth, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one son, William Ricky Duckworth; two brothers; and one sister. He was retired from Shaw Industries and the Irwin County Board of Education and was a member of Ocilla Church of God.
Mr. Duckworth is survived by his wife, Helen Smith Duckworth of Rebecca; two sons, Rodney Duckworth of Nashville, Tennessee and Rocky Duckworth of Sylvester; one daughter, Misty Duckworth of Tifton; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
