Obituary

Charles Wilfred Harding Chumack, 74, of New Bedford died July 1, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
He was the husband of the late Frieda (Truckenmüller) Harding.
Born in Tewksbury, the son of the late Leonard W. and Louise F. (Harding) Chumack, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Charles was formerly employed by the City of New Bedford at Rural Cemetery for several years until retirement.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Charles was a member of Andrews-Dahill Post 1531 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post 1. He enjoyed music.
Survivors include his 2 sons, Karlheinz and Gunter Harding, both of New Bedford; 4 brothers, Merton Chumack, Milton Chumack, Carlton Chumack and Ralph Chumack, all of New Bedford; a sister, Yvonne of New Bedford; a granddaughter, Joanne Harding; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Leonard, Curtis, Norman and Betty.
His visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 5th from 6-8 PM followed by his Funeral Service Sunday at 8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. His Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 6th at 2:15 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
