GLOUCESTER: Virginia (Muse) Carpenter, 77, of 76 Poplar Park died Monday afternoon, June 29, 2009 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late C. Richard Carpenter, who died in June of 1970.
Born in Pamlico County, North Carolina on September 13, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Lennie and Olive (Rolison) Muse.
She had resided in Gloucester since 1963. Mrs. Carpenter was employed for many years at the former Empire Fish Company.
Virginia was a longtime Red Sox fan. A loving and devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Ruth Giagoudakis, Maria and David Doyle, two sons and three daughters-in-law, Walter and Dawn Carpenter, Rick and Maria Carpenter and Susan Carpenter, fourteen grandchildren, Jr. Farsijany, Lee Giagoudakis, Feleshia Mellezzo, Jason Carpenter, Brenda Sullivan, Leanna Carpenter, Michael Carpenter, Jill Carpenter Cusumano, Vincent Carpenter, Isaac Carpenter, Sean Carpenter, Travis Carpenter, Marissa Doyle and Megan Doyle, ten great-grandchildren, Ramzeys, Cheyenne, Dakota, Nicklos, Jenna, Jacob, Kyle, Alex, Mikaela and Ryan and four sisters, Gladys, Ruth, Estelle and Frances. She was also predeceased by two sons, Ronnie Carpenter and Terry Carpenter.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral services. A celebration of her life will be held at her son Walter’s home, 6 Howard Road, Wheeler’s Point, on Friday afternoon from 1 – 3 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Prayers of committal will be held privately in the Seaside Cemetery.
