Laura Jean Webb Smith, 68, of Anderson, South Carolina, formerly of Ty Ty, and later of Clayton County, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2009, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Billy D. Hanna of Albany will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 3, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Smith was born on December 30, 1940 in Omega and was the daughter of John Clark Webb, Jr. and Thelma Hayes Webb, formerly of Jonesboro, both deceased. She was a retired secretary for the Public Safety Director in Clayton County and was of the Baptist faith. She graduated from Tifton High School in 1958. She was a very loving, caring, giving and compassionate mother and friend, who enjoyed staying in touch with long-time friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all.
Ms. Smith is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Melanie Smith Foster and her husband, Scott, of Anderson, South Carolina; Melanie’s father, Donald Harmon Smith of Daphne, Alabama, one sister, Carolyn Webb Griner of Leesburg; and one grandson, Bradley Scott Foster of Anderson, South Carolina.
