Loretta I. Godin 68, of St. Leon Ave. died Monday in Landmark Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving and devoted wife of Gerard H. Godin. Mrs. Godin was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Dominic and Evelyn (Pimental) Laforest. She was a certified nurse's aide for many local nursing homes, including Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Center, where she worked for over fifteen years, retiring in 1986.
Mrs. Godin was the beloved mother of nine children. She is survived by two sons, Dominic Godin Sr. and his wife Dolores and Joseph F. Godin Sr. and his fiance, Kimberly Castagnaro, a daughter Evelyn Caya and her husband Gary all of Woonsocket. She was predeceased by six children, Robert Laforest, Gerard, Maurice Sr, Richard, Walter and Donna Godin and will now be laid to rest with them.
She is also survived by a sister, Mabel Ferriera of MA, thirteen grandsons, eleven granddaughters, ten great grandsons, and fourteen great granddaughters. She was also a loving grandmother to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. She was also the sister of the late Doris Klebes and Caroline Morrison.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Park Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will be held in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-8 PM.
