Ruby F. Bumpus, 84, Clarksville, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at Montgomery Care and Rehab Center. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev. Steve Louder officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born September 18, 1924 in Montgomery County, daughter of the late Charlie Shearon and Lela Stack Shearon. Mrs. Bumpus was a self-employed hairdresser for over forty years. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Bumpus; brother, Bryant Shearon; and sisters, Lucille Powers and Nancy Wade. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Black (Lemoine); and Elaine Poston (Ronnie); two sisters, Jean Rogers, Jacksonville, FL and Dorothy Murphy, Clarksville; granddaughter, Misty Nash; two step-grandaughters, Lisa Robertson and Leigh Black; great-grandson, Hunter Nash; and two step-great-grandsons, Matthew Potter and Austin Nash. Pallbearers will be Matthew Potter, Robert Nash, Austin Nash, Charlie Wade, Roger Spears, David Baggett, Mark Harris, and Michael Baggett.
