E. Myrtle (Gainey) Sprague, 88, died Saturday, June 27 at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home after a period of failing health. She was the wife of 65 years of Harold A. Sprague, Jr. Born in Hartsville, SC, she was raised and educated in Hartsville. She was a resident of Stoughton for many years. Mrs. Sprague worked as a secretary for Plymouth Rubber Co. for over 20 years, retiring at age 65. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, reading, knitting and traveling.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Deborah A. Moore of SC, Linda R. Petraitis of Stoughton, Harold L. Sprague and his wife Sylvia of Halifax, Doris J. Fisher and her husband Jack of Bridgewater and George A. Sprague and his wife Diane of Middleboro. She was the sister of Thomas L. Gainey of SC, Jack A. Gainey of GA and the late Charles R. Gainey. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday Night, July 1 at 7 PM. Visiting Hours prior to service from 5-7 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, 02368.
