Augusta, GA – Mrs. Nadell M. Morris, wife of Harry B. Morris, Sr. (deceased) moved to her new residence in Heaven on Thursday June 25, 2009.
In the words of her oldest grandchild, Emory Morris, “she was the iconic Southern grannie…soft spoken, harder than steel at the core, but could mend a skinned knee with a hug”. Her fried chicken was legendary, easily demoting the Colonel to a mere private, and I swear she had a magic pot that created gravy that could make you lick your eyebrows trying to find the last atomic particle of the stuff. They don’t make’em like that anymore”.
She was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1922 in Colbert, GA. She was a 1939 graduate of Colbert High School and a 1941 graduate of Athens Business College. She was an employee at Rex Toyland for 17 years. When it closed she worked as a cashier for Woolworths for 7 years. St. Mark United Methodist Church was blessed with her membership since 1951.
Those of us that will miss her are her son, Harry B. Morris, Jr. and his wife Colleen, of Aiken, SC; a daughter, Kathryn Young, and her husband Kent of Augusta, GA; a brother, Elco Morris; three sisters, Thedral Morris, Mary Sue Sluder and her husband Harold, Carlene Williams and her husband Elliot; grandchildren, Emory Morris and his wife Shelley, Wesley Morris, Christopher Morris, Julia Meister and her husband Todd, Heather Joy and her husband Brian; step grandchildren, Brenda Bridgers, Donna Kramer and her husband Michael; great grandchildren, Sonny and Ana Rodriguez, Bryson and Bradley Morris, Ethan Morris, Wyatt Meister, Harper and Grady Joy; step great grandchildren; Amanda Meister and Nicole Kramer.
