Mrs. Mary L. Carney, age 79, of Medford, died Friday in Salem Hospital, Salem MA.She was the wife of the late James Carney. Mrs. Carney was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Alan S. and the late Margaret (McGrath) Roach. For many years she worked as a Housekeeper, employed by Tufts University in Medford. She could often be found playing Bingo at St. Raphael’s Church Hall. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who had an extended family of many friends.
She is survived by three daughters: Maureen Power and her husband Mark of Malden, Darlene Bando and her husband Anthony of York, ME, Deborah Mahoney and her husband Bernard of Saugus, a son: James F. Carney Jr. of Chicopee. Grandmother of Erin Moriarty of Methuen, Amanda and Kristin Power of Malden, Alexa Bando, Tayla Mary Bando & Halee Bando all of York, ME. Great Grandmother of Kaylin, David & Makayla. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 3 sisters, Arline Cinelli, Stella Brems and Barbara Interbartolo, 2 brothers, Allan and Joseph Roach. At her request, services are private. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
