Boston – James M. Hayes, Jr., 60, of Boston died on June 24th in his home after an illness.
James was born in Worcester son of the late James M. and Ethel (Mahaney) Hayes and graduated from Burncoat High School. Upon graduation from high school he attended and graduated from Boston College in 1971 and later attended the Boston College School of Law.
Mr. Hayes spent his life helping others on a daily basis that were not as fortunate as he was. James worked as an office clerk and counselor for MA Halfway Houses, The MA Department of Health and most recently for Matchup Interfaith. James was a member of the Metropolitan Community Church in Boston and enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by a brother Mark H. Hayes of Worcester; a niece Maire Johanna Hayes and her mother Aine LaComfora both of Lincoln, ME; a close friend Ray Mendes of Boston and many other friends as well.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 30th in St. Christopher’s Church 950 West Boylston St. Worcester. Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester is directing arrangements.
