Obituary

Mr. George Lyman Barry, a lifelong resident of Medford, died at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford on Friday morning June 26, 2209. He was 90 years old.
Born in Stoneham, Massachusetts, on July 5, 1918, the son of the late James S. and Rose F. (Dagley) Barry.
George served in the US Coast Guard during WWII. He enlisted on October 7, 1943, at Boston and received his honorable discharge from the Separation Center Number One, at Boston on January 21, 1946. While in the Coast Guard, he attained the rank of Watertender, Third Class. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon and the WWII Victory Campaign Ribbon.
Mr. Barry was employed for many years as an engineer and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Medford. He was also a member of the Masons and Shriners for many years. In his younger years, Mr. Barry always enjoyed skiing.
He was the loving brother of Richard H. and his wife Sheila Barry of Medford and the late Elva Reichenbacher and Rupert and Elizabeth Barry. Dear uncle of Bruce D. Barry of Medford and Keith R. and his wife Karin M. Barry of Amesbury. Great-uncle of Katie, Kerrie, Kloe and Jay Barry and Dana Valley.
His funeral service was celebrated in the First Baptist Church, Oakland Street, Medford, Monday, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Sunday, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
