TEWKSBURY - Lucille J. “Luci” (Cassidy) Firneno, 73, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 9, atSaints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell after suffering an apparent heart attack at home. Shewas the wife of Michael R. Firneno, with whom she had celebrated a 53rd wedding anniversarythis past April 17th.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY, Dec. 14, 1928, a daughter of the late Charles and Louise(Avelino) Cassidy. She was raised in Brooklyn, and lived in Watertown, Mass. before moving toTewksbury 36 years ago.
Mrs. Firneno was a communicant of St. William’s Parish in Tewksbury.
In earlier years, she was active in school programs in both Watertown and Tewksbury. She was acandidate for School Committee member in the 1970's in Tewksbury, and was also active in theLeague of Women Voters in Tewksbury.
She was a former employee of the I.R.S. in Andover.
During her lifetime, she enjoyed golf, ten pin bowling, bingo, and in her later years, trips to theFoxwoods casino in Connecticut.
Besides her husband, she is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Patricia A. Powers ofLowell, Carol B. and her husband Douglas White of Derry, NH, Suzanne M. and her husbandJoseph Russell of Tewksbury, Michelle C. and her husband John Iwanicki of Tewksbury, StacieR. and her husband James O’Connor of Derry, NH, one son and two daughters-in-law, Charles S.and his wife Carol Firneno of New Orleans, LA, and Kathy (Dubois) Firneno of Lowell, 20grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and his wife Ruth(Burns) Cassidy of Belmont, Mass., a sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and her husband ThomasNeylon of Waltham, six beloved sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
She was also mother of the late Jack C. Firneno, and Jude Firneno, and sister of the late PatriciaEdgar.
Her Funeral Mass was held Monday, Jan. 14, in St. William’s Church. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.
