Wilma Lorena Harris Bennett, 87, passed away at her residence June 24, 2009.
She was a member of Jesup First Baptist Church, the Berean Sunday School Class, a Girl Scout Leader, Community Cookie Chairman for several years and a member of the Loving Heart's Club.
She was born in Bryan County to Joseph L. and Lorena Green Harris on Henry Ford's plantation where her father was a railroad worker. Raised in Screven, GA, she is predeceased by her husband, Brownen Moody Bennett; her parents; her grandparents, Henry L. and Sarah Tyre Harris and John R. and Harriett Bennett Green; 2 brothers, Joseph L (Linton) and Julian F. Harris; 2 sisters, Kathleen Harris Nordin and an infant baby girl; a niece, Edwina H. Downs and a great-nephew, Larry Harris, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Evanda B. Anderson of Jesup; a Grandson, Brownen B. Anderson (Amie) of Brunswick; 4 step-grandchildren; a brother, John Henry Harris of Screven; 7 nieces, 6 nephews, and many great and great- great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 27,2009 at 10:00 AM from the Jesup First Baptist Church with the Reverend James Sapp and Dr. Mike VonMoss officiating.
Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be, Carl Flathmann, Billy Cowart, Randy Franks, Bud Collins, Fred Fender and Stephen Ellis.
