Maynard “Bugs” Latham, Jr. 78, of Fitzgerald, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 25, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Rev. Jimmy Cargle officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Latham was born February 13, 1931 in Irwin County to the late Maynard and Thelma Bryant Latham. He lived in Fitzgerald most of his life. Mr. Latham farmed with his father and retired after forty-two years from Fitzgerald Water, Light & Bond in 1993. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He attended Faith Baptist Church.
Mr. Latham is survived by two sons and a daughters-in-law, Wayne & Marvelle Latham and Freddy & Debora Latham all of Fitzgerald; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Willis Latham of Tifton and Larry Latham of Fitzgerald; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dolores & John Carter of Atlantic Beach, FL, Myra & Charles Jones and Gail & Mackie Daniel all of Fitzgerald; sisters-in-law, Gail Latham and Florence Latham, both of Fitzgerald, Betty Latham of Lakeland and Jean Latham of Waycross as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha “Mickey” Milligan Latham.
