Herbert C. Wennerstrom Jr., 78, of Dana Hill Road, a World War II veteran, died Sunday, July 20, in Clinton Hospital.
His wife of 55 years, Bernice M. (Barker) Wennerstrom, died in 2000. He leaves a son, Bruce H. Wennerstrom of Chelmsford; a daughter, Judy A. Groves of the Jefferson section of Holden; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces; many great-nephews and great-nieces; many great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces. A sister, Carolyn Laine, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Herbert C. Wennerstrom Sr. and Ruth (Lindstrom) Wennerstrom. He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester, and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Wennerstrom was a sales agent for many companies, including Worcester Quality Foods, Kennedy's Clothing, and Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance. He retired in 1986. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church and a former member of Belmont Street Baptist Church. He was an accomplished musician.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, in Belmont Street Baptist Church, 25 Belmont St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester (www.nordgrenmemorialchapel.com).
