Obituary

C. Frances (Coghlin) Dolan, 88, of 30 Julio Drive, formerly of 5 Plantation St., Worcester, a retired manager for Glemby Co., died Sunday, July 20, at home after an illness.

Her husband of 60 years, Thomas J. Dolan Jr., predeceased her. She leaves three brothers, Fitzmaurice Coghlin Jr. of Saugatack, Mich., Edgar W. Coghlin of Richardson, Texas, and Robert L. Coghlin of Worcester; nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces. A sister, Myrtle L. Coghlin-Chambers, also predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Fitzmaurice Coghlin Sr. and Etta (Wood) Coghlin, and was raised in Shrewsbury. She graduated from Shrewsbury High School.

Mrs. Dolan was a manager of Glemby Salons of New York, and trained and supervised personnel in Sherers, the Denholm Department Store and Jordan Marsh Co. in Worcester and Providence. As a young adult, she taught Sunday school in the Community Center of Edgemere. She helped to organize class reunions for Shrewsbury High School. She was most active in Altrusa, an international professional women's organization dedicated to community service, serving as its president for several years. Upon retiring from the Glemby Co., she became co-chairperson of volunteers at Mechanics Hall. She enjoyed spending summers in Falmouth.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester (www.NordgrenMemorialChapel.com). Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, in the funeral home.
