
AUBURN-Milton R."Pat" Patterson, 84, of Pakachoag Village, died Sunday, July 20 in the UMass Memorial Medical Center-Memorial Campus, Worcester after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Mary (Milleison) PAtterson; a son, Ronald Patterson of Millbury; seven grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. His daughter, Mary Jean Demazure died in 1998. He was also predeceased by his sister, Helen Elliott.He was born in Beverly, MA the son of the late Milton A. and Edna (Roscoe) Patterson and lived in Oxofrd and Auburn for many years. He graduated from Beverly High School and later attended New York University and Boston University School of Music.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe.
Mr. Patterson was a music teacher for the Auburn School Department and later for the Quaboag School District before retiring. He then worked as an oil burner technician for the C.K. Smith Oil company in Worcester for 10 years before retiring in 1989. He also had worked as the choir director for the Oxofrd and Quinsigamond United Methodist Churches.
Mr. Patterson was an accomplished musician and played the trombone and drums. He played with many bands before the war, including one of Tommy Dorsey's. He was a member of the Pakachoag Church, Auburn.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 24th at 11:15 AM in the Pakachoag Church, 203 Pakachoag St., Auburn. Following cremation, scattering will be private. The family will recieve friends at the church from 10-11 AM Thursday, prior to the services.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pakachoag Church Music Program, 203 Pakachoag St., Auburn, MA 01501.
