Ludowici-Doreen Wells Duke, 56, died Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah after a brief illness
She was a native and lifelong resident of Ludowici and a 1970 graduate of Ludowici High School. She had worked at Southern Image of Richmond Hill for over 20 years and was a member of the Tibet Baptist Church in Ludowici. She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Wells and her siblings, Cleon, Katrina, Harrison, and Leslie.
Survivors are her husband of 39 years, Gary Duke; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Ronnie Hillis, all of Ludowici and Melinda and Alfredo Guzman of Muleshoe, Texas; her mother, Jessie Wells of Ludowici; three sisters, Sharon McGowan, Linda Horne, and Amy Howard; one brother, Stanley Wells all of Ludowici; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 23 at 11:00 A.M. at the James R. Gordon Memorial Chapel of Howard-Jones-Nobles Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Weldon officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hinesville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, June 22 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jason Howard, Marcus Farmer, Darvin Freeman, Michael Freeman, Tad McGowan, Douglas Barlow, Jeffery Hall, and Jimmy Horne, Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be David Hall, Robert Norby, and the Mark Hall Sunday School class of Tibet Baptist Church.
