New Bedford - Bette A. Ryan, 64, of New Bedford died accidentally Sunday, July 20, 2003 after an automobile accident in Dartmouth. She was the former wife of Manuel F. Oliveira, Jr. of New Bedford and was the close companion of Tony Almeida ofWestport.
She was born in New Bedford daughter of the late Raymond F. and Genowefa (Karcmarcyk) Ryan and was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. She was the owner/operator of Ruby's Bridals on County Street, New Bedford. She had previously been a Real Estate Agent in the New Bedford area.
Ms. Ryan loved having her growing family around her and recently became agreat-grandmother. Always a very active and vibrant woman, she lived a dedicated life to her family and her business. She was looking forward to retirement and enjoyed traveling and spending more time in Florida.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Peggy Sue Carvalho and her fiance DavidBabcock of New Bedford and Donna Marie Palmer and her husband Mark ofDartmouth; 6 grandchildren: John L. Carvalho of Boston, Ross K. Carvalho of Florida, John Furtado III and Bethany Macedo of New Bedford, Scott Furtado of Dartmouth, Evan Babcock of New Bedford and Courtney Babcock of New Bedford; a great-grandson: Jared Furtado of New Bedford; and several aunts & cousins.
