In Boston, Rhonda J. (Lima) Goonan, wife of Bob Goonan, of Mohawk Road in Raynham, died on June 18, 2009 at Mass General Hospital at the age of 39, after a long battle with breast cancer. Born in Taunton, Rhonda was the daughter of Ronald and Maureen (Wade) Lima. She was a graduate of Bridgewater-Raynham High School’s class of 1988 then attended U Mass Amherst. She received her Bachelors degree from Bridgewater State College in 1992 and then completed her Masters degree at WPI, Worcester, MA.
Rhonda’s greatest love was being mother to her three children, Jake, Ryan and Brendan Goonan. She was a math teacher at Sharon High School for ten years and continued her love of teaching through volunteer work, tutoring and MCAS Prep courses. She was also a member of E.C.P.O., L.P.O. in Raynham and the M.T.A. Rhonda enjoyed the beach, scrapbooking with her friends, a great little league baseball game and spending time and vacationing with her family. Rhonda was also very active in the Raynham School System, as well as St. Ann’s Church of Raynham.
Rhonda was sister of Pamela Vaz and Paula Thomas, both of Berkley, MA and also the granddaughter of Matilda Wade of Taunton and Joseph Lima of Taunton. Rhonda was also a treasured aunt to Nicholas and Caralyn Vaz, Hayley and Adam Thomas, Sophia and Ava Guilbeault and Cassandra and Alex Senna. A Mass of Celebration of Rhonda’s life will be held at St. Ann’s Church in Raynham Tuesday, June 23rd, at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rhonda’s memory may be made to Rhonda's children's college fund, The Rhonda Goonan Educational Trust Fund, P.O. Box 574, Raynham Center, Ma, 02768.
