Obituary

Thomas E. Callanan, 74, of New Bedford, died January 9, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.

He was the husband of Dorothy (Whitehead) Freitas Callanan the late Theresa M. (Kruger) Callanan.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Thomas E. and Mildred M. (Newton) Callanan, he lived in New Bedford for all of his life.

He was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.

Mr. Callanan was formerly employed as a steamfitter by the New Bedford Public School Department until his retirement in 1990.

He was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. Mr. Callanan served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John M. Callanan of California; and 2 grandchildren.

He was the brother of the late Theresa McGlynn.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordFriday, January 11th at 10 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 11 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours Thursday, January 10th from 2-4 and 7-9.

Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
