A graveside committal service for Don L. Simpson was held Saturday, July 26th at 11:30 AM at the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rev. Gary Kosmowski, pastor of St. Joseph Church officiated.
Mr. Simpson, 80, of 2123 Miramount Circle, Valrico FL and formerly of 137 Highland St. died November 8, 2002. He was born in Hugo, OK on December 17, 1921, the son of Ed and Elizabeth Simpson and had resided in Laconia since 1942 until he relocated to Florida in 1994.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and had served his country on active duty for five years and one day. Prior to his retirement in 1981, he was employed as a lineman/installer by New England Telephone Company.
A former communicant of Sacred Heart Church, at the time of his death he was a member of the Nativity Catholic Church in Valrico. Mr. Simpson was a life member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks #876 and a member of both the Wilkins-Smith Post #1 American Legion and the Post 1670 VFW.
An avid and devoted golfer, he was a member of the Laconia Country Club and the Buckhorn Country Club in Florida.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife of more than 57 years, Estelle (Duguay) Simpson of Valrico; a daughter, Donna Rucker of Sutton MA; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
