Obituary

Fredrick J. Donovan of Andover, died at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House on June 17, after a long struggle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Watts) Donovan. Mr. Donovan was born on June 8, 1933, in Lewiston, Maine, the son of the late Leo and Elizabeth D. (Spencer) Donovan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and taught English for 40 years at Chelmsford High School.
Besides his wife Mary, he was the devoted brother of Elizabeth Robinson of Norwell and Diana Estes and Leonis Donovan of South Harpswell, Maine. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggett’s Pond Road, Andover, Monday at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Calling hours were Monday, Prior to the Mass, in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, from 9 to 10:30 AM. Burial was private. Donations in Fredrick’s memory may be made to the New England Organ Bank, One Gateway Center, Suite 202, Newton, MA 02458.
