CAREY,Bernard Lee, 79, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009 at his home.
He was a retired locomotive engineer for Illinois Central Railroad, a former member of the Parkland Masonic Lodge, the Louisville Scottish Rite and the Kosair Shrine. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Park United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, David Shawn Velten.
He is survived by his wife, Mary L. (Shuck) Carey; daughters, Saundra Ellen Kenney (Steve), Sharon Lee Yountz and Susan Diane Mitchell (Jack); grandchildren, Amy, Patrick, Billy and Daniel; great grandchildren, Claudia, Willie and Blake; sister, Martha Ann Mitchell (Owen) and several nieces and nephews.
His service will be 11am Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens, West. Visitation will be Monday 1pm-8pm at the funeral home.
