Obituary

Methuen, MA- Mario A. Manzelli, 92, 54 year resident of Somerville, died peacefully Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Boston, Mario was the son of Antonio and Carolina (Ciampa) Manzelli. During World War II, Mario was a member of the Army Air force where he worked as a sheet metal worker, mending damaged aircrafts.

For many years Mario was a Glazier for the City of Boston where he installed windows and painted numerous things, until his retirement in July of 1979. Mario was an active communicant of St. Joseph’s in the West End of Boston, and was a member of the St. Polycarp’s Holy Name Society in Somerville. He was also an avid bowler and bingo announcer, and was a member of numerous Softball and Bocce-ball leagues. Mario was also a longtime volunteer with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Mario was an avid sports fan and in later years, Mario enjoyed family barbeques with those he loved.

Mario will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Maria (Garrasi), children, Liz Rose-Palmer and her husband Charles of Methuen, Julie McCulloch and her husband Richard of Salem, NH, son-in-law William Heniffent, daughter-in-law Jean Manzelli, Brother, George Manzelli of Reading, 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Amy, Jared, Garrick, Stacy, Patrick, Christopher, Jenny and Caitlin, as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Rhiannon, Colin and Thomas, and many nieces and nephews.

Mario was also pre-deceased by his two children, Carolyn Heniffent and Anthony Manzelli.

ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, June 19th, from 3-5 and 7-9 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence, St, in Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, June 20th, at 11 AM at St. Lucy’s Church in Methuen.
