Hanna Hastings died peacefully in her sleep on June 15. With her were husband Woody and children Jennifer, David, Laura and Karen. She suffered from Parkinson’s disease. Hanna was born in 1930 in Austria to Mitzi and Fritz Machlup, a noted economist. She received degrees from Swarthmore, Univ. of Illinois, Boston College and Harvard School of Education. Hanna and Woody were Housemasters at Harvard’s North (now Pforzheimer) House from 1976-1996. During that time Hanna was Director of Student Affairs at Harvard School of Public Health. Hanna loved to ski and swim and was an avid exerciser. She was engaged in music, art and politics, and traveled widely. She was a wonderful wife and mother; she created loving friendships wherever she went. [email protected]
